On Friday 23/06/2017, at the Metsovion Interdisciplinary Research Center, in Metsovo, an event took place for the celebration of the 180 years of the National Technical University of Athens titled: "The contribution of the benefactors of Metsovo to the foundation and the development of the N.T.U.A.". It was the first time, that such a central, anniversary type event, of the Institute, took place at the home-place of the important benefactors of the N.T.U.A. The event was highly successful and the local society embraced it with its presence.

During Tuesday 21 to Thursday 23 of February, 2017 a Training school took place in M.I.R.C in the frame of the Marie Curie INT “Complex Wetting Phenomena” (CoWet) Project, entitled: “Dynamics of forced wetting and innovative functional surfaces”.

The Training school was organized by the Laboratory of Chemical and Environmental Technology of the Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Director of which is Th. Karapantsios. More than 30 scientists from all the world took part in the training school. Presentations of current studies in the relative scientific field were made and fruitful discussions followed in an overall pleasant mood.

The training school was very successful and the wish is to be the beginning of a general cooperation between the research team of the AUTh and the M.I.R.C.
